House Coal Alderley Edge

At Cheshire Fuels we sell a number of different types of coal to clients in Alderley Edge. Our house coal is a premium grade house coal which has a long lasting burn and is easy to light. House coal is best for use in fireplaces in homes and is used in pubs across the country that boast real fires. If you are unsure which type of coal to opt for there are other types which we also sell, the 4 main types are as follows:

  1. House Coal – Ideal for fires in the home of commercial properties
  2. Smokeless Coal – a must if you live in a smoke free area
  3. Catering Coal – ideal for BBQ’s and home cooking
  4. Restaurant Grade Catering Coal – Larger bag so better for restaurants and catering companies.

The coal you go for depends on your needs as we have very briefly explained but a little more on that to come in case you are still unsure.

What’s the difference between House coal and smokeless coal?

To be classed as smokeless coal it has to meet the requirement of giving off less than 5 grams of smoke per hour while being burnt. This roughly equates to 80% less smoke when compared to normal coal and also around 25% less carbon dioxide is given off. The cheaper option is to go for house coal but if you live in a smoke free zone then you need to go for smokeless coals.

Household coal vs catering coal, what’s the difference?

Usually household coal has additives added to the coal itself in order to make it light easily and burn brightly. This is ideal if the coals are being used on fireplaces as the coals will burn for longer and with a higher heat output however is not ideally suited to cooking.
