Irish peat briquettes are an ideal alterative to kiln dried logs or coal for two main reasons. They burn for a long time meaning you get a lot of life in just one Irish peat briquette. They also burn at an extremely high temperature meaning the heat output is excellent considering their size.
At Cheshire fuels we stock high quality Irish peat briquettes that are stored in such a way to prolong their heat output. We take pride in the knowledge that we can deliver you traditional Irish peat which cannot be matched by coal or wood.
At Cheshire Fuels we have a customer base that simply love the smell and memories that Irish peat briquettes bring into their homes. Its unique smell is why we love it so much and why our customers repeat buy year after year.
Peat which is also commonly known as turf is effectively decayed plant vegetation that has built up over many years. Our peat is all sourced from Ireland and is from an area where there are open marsh lands that produce some of the best peat in the UK. From a more scientific view point, burning peat is a low sulphur alternative to burning logs or coal and provides a superb heat output and a long lasting burn. Unlike wood that generally burns with a long orange flame our Irish peat briquettes burn with a short flame.
The beauty of our Irish peat briquettes is that they are a 100% natural product that has not had anything added to it to make it burn brighter or for longer. The briquettes are simply a mixture of milled and then dried bog peat taken from a low level in the ground. From there the only additional step in the process is to compress them into briquette shapes usable for your home stove or fire.
The briquettes naturally hold around ten percent moisture and will give you a nice hot but slow burn providing a calorific value of around 4.5kWh/Kg. Additionally, they are easy to light making them the fuel of choice for many of our customers.
Due to the way our briquettes are compressed they are easy to stack. This makes them easy to store because unlike coal or logs they can be stacked easily due to their uniform shape.
If you love the smell of Irish peat briquettes but don’t want to make a large purchase its good to know that you can burn them with other fuels so that your order lasts longer. In actual fact because they burn so easily, they can be a great way to light fires even if you only intend on using one to get the fire started and then proceed with another type of fuel.
Wood and coal both give a unique smell off when you burn them. However, nothing compares to the smell of our peat briquettes. If you have never experienced the magical smell that is given off from this type of fuel then you have never lived! Try them today by placing an order with us.
It should be noted that our briquettes are not suitable for use within smoke control areas. Unfortunately due to the smoke that is given off this type of fuel they are not allowed in all areas so it is advised to check if you live in a smoke controlled are before you make a purchase.
